Dr Young is a comprehensive general ophthalmologist with established ties to the Sunshine Coast where he grew up. He holds consultant positions at both Coastal Eye Centre and Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Dr Young is experienced in treating a range of medical and surgical eye conditions including cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, age related macular degeneration and diabetes.

 

Dr Young received his medical degree from the University of Tasmania where he was awarded the University of Tasmania prize in ophthalmology. His resident years were spent on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Canberra. He subsequently undertook specialist training in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Following this he went on to complete a general ophthalmology fellowship, with an emphasis on cataract surgery, at The Alfred Hospital.

 

Dr Young has published and contributed to multiple scientific publications and remains invested in continuing to improve clinical care in ophthalmology.   Aside from his clinical pursuits, he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the beautiful surrounds the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
